Doing this not only improves your overall connection with your members, it helps boost your communication skills in general and allows you to live life with a much more emotional and personal understanding of the stories everyone is living through around you. A potentially new member or someone you’ve known for years could come into your studio on the worst day of their life or the best. It’s up to you as the Fitness Professional to treat every one of your members (not to mention your staff) with the same compassion and grace.

Over the past ten years, perhaps more, technology has in most ways positively evolved the way we communicate with the world. Personalization in business used to be remembering a members name and approaching them with a level of confidence in what you’re selling. Of course, that still applies. But as technology continues to change so does the way we handle our member communications.

When engaged in the process of hiring new employees foster communication skills. Ensure that all employees are returning voicemails, emails or text messages, promptly and with a level of compassionate professionalism. Make it clear to all levels of staff, even those that do not directly connect with your members, that personalized communication skills are a pillar of your business and not following through on that is detrimental to the success of your fitness studio.

We mentioned the importance of listening to your members and that can not be underscored enough.
